Buy a Carbon free consience

So if the Carbon Neutral company is correct I can spend 89.71 euros on a project in India providing solar energy to some neighborhoods or a project in Mexico doing some similar thing, and I can go ahead and drive 600 miles a week to and from work.
This is too weird. Why don't they just ask for money or solicit funds for their projects. I don't know about others but watching celebrities fly their jets around the world and be driven around in limos while stopping to champion global warming or some other cause of the moment isn't a very appealing sale to me.
Yes, I know there's an issue about global warming. I'm not so sure it's as big a deal as Al Gore wants us all to believe but we do need to do our part and be conscious of the environment around us and around the world. We also need to do our part to support and protect the third world nations that are being held back either by world circumstance or tyrant leaders.
I think we can do this without buying carbon credits to satisfy our conscience.
